updating my contract for 2026 what am I missing

going through my contract template and trying to tighten it up for this year. Right now I have scope of work payment schedule change order process and a cancellation clause. What am I missing? what clauses have actually saved you in a real situation?

Arbitration clause for disputes. Keeps you out of expensive lawsuits and into cheaper arbitration.

MATERIAL PRICE ESCALATION CLAUSE. if lumber goes up 15% between signing and start date youre covered. learned that one during covid the hard way

photo documentation clause. the right to photograph all work at every stage for your records. saved me in a dispute last year

payment terms with actual teeth. net 30 with 1.5% monthly interest after that. put it in writing and people take it seriously
